PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — One college bound pitcher outdueled the other.

Arizona recruit Cody Freitas shut out Louisville signee Ethan Eberle and Normal Community, 3-0, in a class 4A sectional baseball semifinal at Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday. Normal Community, which set the school record for wins in a season, finishes the year with a 33-4 record.

At the class 3A sectional in Washington, Joliet Catholic hung on to beat Dunlap, 3-1. The Eagles scored their run in the seventh and left the bases loaded.

Morris beat Washington, 12-2, in the nightcap. The Panthers scored a pair of runs in the first inning but Morris scored the final 12 runs of the game to win.
