The Oklahoma Sooners are quietly putting together one of the best recruiting classes in the nation as they join the SEC this summer. Brent Venables has already put together three top ten recruiting classes since becoming the Sooners' head coach in 2022. And despite there being some national doubts surrounding Oklahoma's transition to the SEC, their recruiting is beginning to gain momentum.

The Sooners already have 20 players committed in 2025 with about 60% of them being blue chip recruits (four and five stars). This summer they've already kept a star wide receiver away from rival Texas, Oregon, Georgia, and Tennessee. Then signed four top tier recruits in just a two-week span to wrap up June and start July. Let's dive into the top names who just announced their intentions to join Oklahoma in the last 2.5 weeks.

    Oklahoma Summer Football Commits

Cortez Mills, 4 Star Wide Receiver

The very latest addition to the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class is perhaps the best one of the entire bunch. Cortez Mills has been having quite the offseason as he's dominated the Under Armour Miami Regional event, made Adidas All-American, attended Rivals' Five-Star camp, and then committed to the Sooners.

Mills is a top 100 overall recruit in the class coming off a season where he tallied nearly 1700 yards and 18 touchdowns against tough south Florida competition. Mills is quick, smart, and versatile, playing both offense and defense in high school. He could star as a true freshman for Oklahoma if given the chance.

CJ Nickson, 4 Star Edge Defender

CJ Nickson is another top 100 overall player according to 247Sports who boasts scholarship offers in both football and basketball. He can do it all on the football field as a dominant receiver, force off the edge on defense, and can even defend passes (multiple INTs and several passes defended on his resume). He'll need to bulk up a bit, but he has all the tools to be a difference maker in Norman.

Marcus Harris, 4 Star Wide Receiver

If Marcus Harris has another strong season for Mater Dei out in Santa Ana, CA (one of the best high school programs around) it's likely he'll actually end up being the official "highest pedigree" talent in the whole Sooners class. He has dominated at the highest level of high school football for two seasons already and boasted legit track speed as a freshman. Harris is a burner with a thick frame who can pack a punch after the catch too.

Emmanuel Choice, 4 Star Wide Receiver

If Nic Anderson heads to the NFL after the 2024 season they'll be looking for a tall, long wide receiver with some size and strength to him. That's where Emmanuel Choice could come in. He's a long-striding sprinter who eats up ground on vertical routes quickly who can win easily at the point of catch with his strong hands. Choice likely continues to rise up recruiting ranks as a senior.
