    2024 MLB Draft tracker: Where former OU, OSU, Oklahoma HS baseball players were selected

    The state of Oklahoma is expected to well represented in the 2024 MLB Draft , which begins at 6 p.m. CT Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.

    Former OSU two-way standout Carson Benge and Elk City High School pitcher Kash Mayfield are both projected to be selected in the first round, while Edmond North pitcher Owen Hall could go on Day 2 or late Sunday night.

    Carson Benge , Oklahoma State

    Round: First | Overall pick: 19th | Team: New York Mets

    Benge redshirted as a freshman in 2022 after he underwent Tommy John surgery, but he bounced back with OSU. The former Yukon High standout recorded 64 RBIs, 72 runs and 18 home runs on .335 hitting as a sophomore last season. He also recorded a 3.16 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched. Benge is a two-way threat who hits with good power at the plate and throws a fastball on the mound that can reach 96 miles per hour. The outfielder/pitcher is OSU's 65th player to get selected in the MLB Draft during Josh Holliday’s 12 seasons as head coach.

    Kash Mayfield , Elk City High

    Round: First | Overall pick: 25th | Team: San Diego Padres

    Mayfield is a left-handed pitcher from Elk City who was named to The Oklahoman’s All-State first team last season, and he was also named the Oklahoma Gatorade state player of the year. The 6-4 prospect recorded a 0.16 ERA with 115 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched last season. Mayfield boasts a fastball that lands in the 92-95 mph range, and he also has an impressive changeup in his arsenal. Mayfield committed to Oklahoma State in February 2021, but he’s now a first-round selection by San Diego.

    Owen Hall , Edmond North

    Round: Second | Overall pick: 49 | Team: Detroit Tigers

    Hall is a right-handed pitcher who turned heads last season with Edmond North. The 6-3 prospect showcased a fastball that tops out at 98 mph, and his low-80s slider consistently got opposing batters to bite. Hall committed to Vanderbilt in December 2021. Now, after getting selected by Detroit on Sunday, he has the chance to begin his pro career. The Tigers have had success with Oklahoma high school prospects recently. Detroit selected Heritage Hall pitcher Jackson Jobe third overall in the 2021 draft.

    Payton Tolle , TCU

    Round: Second | Overall pick: 50 | Team: Boston Red Sox

    Tolle is a former Bethany High standout who was named to The Oklahoman's 2021 All-State first team. The left-handed pitcher/infielder spent the first two years of his college career at Wichita State. He then recorded a 3.21 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings pitched at TCU last season, which earned him Big 12 Pitcher of the Year honors. Tolle leans on a fastball that can hit up to 96 mph, and he sprinkles in a low-80s slider. He's Boston's highest pitching selection since it took Tanner Houck with the No. 24 overall pick in 2017.

    Brian Holiday , Oklahoma State

    Round: Third | Overall pick: 80 | Team: St. Louis Cardinals

    Holiday spent the first two years of his career at two different junior colleges, but he played well at OSU last season. The right-handed pitcher recorded a 4.58 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings as a junior. Holiday has great control of his fastball, which tops out at 95 mph, and he’s also dangerous with his low-80s slider. He's the second OSU player to come off the board, not counting high school commits.

    John Spikerman , Oklahoma

    Round: Third | Overall pick: 100 | Team: Philadelphia Phillies

    Spikerman became the first OU player to get selected in this year’s draft. The 6-foot outfielder earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention as a junior last season by recording 32 RBIs, 42 runs and three homers with a .367 batting average. Spikerman also showed his value as an outfielder. He posted a .978 fielding percentage and only committed a career-low two errors.

    Zach Ehrhard , Oklahoma State

    Round: Fourth | Overall pick: 115 | Team: Boston Red Sox

    Ehrhard missed 19 games in 2023 due to a shoulder injury, but he bounced back last season. The junior outfielder recorded 57 RBIs, 75 runs and 14 homers with a .330 batting average, which helped him earn an All-Big 12 first team selection. Ehrhard also boosted his value in the postseason, where he went 7 for 15 with five doubles and two home runs in four NCAA Tournament games.

    Braden Davis, Oklahoma

    Round: Fifth | Overall pick: 142 | Team: St. Louis Cardinals

    Davis spent the first two years of his college career at Sam Houston State. The right-handed pitcher then transferred to OU, and he thrived last season. Davis earned an All-Big 12 first team selection as a junior by posting a 4.38 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 76 innings. He even joined Jonathan Gray (2013) as the only two OU players to throw a complete-game shutout in the Big 12 Tournament during a win over TCU.

    Janzen Keisel, Oklahoma State

    Round: Sixth | Overall pick: 186 | Team: Tampa Bay Rays

    Keisel spent his freshman season at BYU before he transferred to OSU. And after a shaky 2023 campaign, the right-handed pitcher found his rhythm on the mound last season. Keisel recorded a 3.37 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings. He leaned on his fastball, and for good reason. It can hit up to 99 mph, making it one of the most lethal fastballs in the nation.

    Caden Powell, Seminole State

    Round: Sixth | Overall pick: 193 | Team: Houston Astros

    Powell is a former Clinton High standout who began his career at OU in 2023. The 6-2 infielder then transferred to Seminole State College, where he recorded a .511 batting average with 68 hits, 44 runs and 14 homers. Powell showed significant improvement in his game, and he committed to OSU on April 3. Now, he has been selected by Houston in the sixth round of the MLB Draft.

    Caden Favors, Wichita State

    Round: Sixth | Overall pick: 175 | Team: Cleveland Guardians

    Favors is a former Carl Albert High standout who spent his freshman season at Seminole State College. The left-handed pitcher then spent three seasons at Wichita State, and he earned an All-Conference first team selection as a senior last season. Favors posted a 3.21 ERA with 107 strikeouts in 106 2/3 innings pitched.

    Robert Cranz, Oklahoma State

    Round: Seventh | Overall pick: 200 | Team: Washington Nationals

    Cranz spent the first two years of his college career at Wichita State. The right-handed pitcher then spend last season with OSU and enjoyed immediate success. Cranz recorded a 1.26 ERA as a junior with 26 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings pitched. He even earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors in April.

    Ryan Lambert, Oklahoma

    Round: Eighth | Overall pick: 233 | Team: New York Mets

    Lambert spent the first two years of his career at Northern Iowa Area Community College and Missouri State. The right-handed pitcher then spent last season with OU, and he made 23 appearances as a relief pitcher/closer. Lambert recorded a 2.79 ERA with 17 strikeouts and one save in 19 1/3 innings.

    Sam Garcia, Oklahoma State

    Round: Eighth | Overall pick: 245 | Team: Milwaukee Brewers

    Garcia spent the first three years of his college career at High Point, where he was named to the All-Big South first team as a sophomore in 2022. The left-handed pitcher then spent last season at OSU and provided solid production. Garcia recorded a 3.48 ERA as a senior with 57 strikeouts in 44 innings.

    Jakob Hall, Oral Roberts

    Round: Eighth | Overall pick: 248 | Team: Minnesota Twins

    Hall is a former Bartlesville High standout who spent three seasons at Oral Roberts. The right-handed pitcher was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore in 2023 for recording a 3.56 ERA with 94 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings. Hall then won the award again last season by posting a 4.12 ERA with 110 strikeouts in 107 innings.

    Bryce Madron, Oklahoma

    Round: 10th | Overall pick: 291 | Team: St. Louis Cardinals

    Madron is a former Blanchard High standout who spent the first two years of his college career at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. The 5-8 outfielder then transferred to OU, and he earned a 2023 All-Big 12 honorable mention as a junior. Madron also made the All-Big 12 second team last season by racking up 53 RBIs, 68 runs and 12 homers with a .318 batting average.

    Brendan Girton, Oklahoma

    Round: 10th | Overall pick: 293 | Team: New York Mets

    Girton is a former Shattuck High standout who spent the first three years of his college career at Texas Tech. The right-handed pitcher then transferred to OU last season. Girton posted a 7.22 ERA as a redshirt junior with 44 strikeouts and one save in 33 2/3 innings.

    Michael Snyder, Oklahoma

    Round: 10th | Overall pick: 304 | Team: Florida Marlins

    Snyder spent the first four years of his college career at Washington before he joined OU last season as a graduate transfer. The 6-4 infielder recorded 47 RBIs, 50 runs and nine homers with a .355 batting average in his lone campaign with the Sooners. Snyder also posted a .988 fielding percentage with four errors.

    Tommy Molsky, Oklahoma State

    Round: 12th | Overall pick: 347 | Team: Kansas City Royals

    Molsky spent the first two years of his college career at Penn State, where he made 18 starts during that time. The right-handed pitcher then transferred to OSU last season and started in two of his 10 appearances. Molsky posted a 4.01 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings.

    Brooks Fowler, Oral Roberts

    Round: 15th | Overall pick: 465 | Team: Texas Rangers

    Fowler is a former Jenks High standout who led the program to a 6A state championship in 2021. He then spent three seasons with Oral Roberts, where he earned two All-Summit League second team selections. Fowler posted a 5.54 ERA as a junior last season with a career-high 83 strikeouts in 79 2/3 innings.

    Jackson Nicklaus, Oklahoma

    Round: 17th | Overall pick: 520 | Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

    Nicklaus burst onto the scene in 2021 by making the All-Big 12 freshman team during OU's run to the College World Series finals. The junior infielder then earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention this past season by recording 37 RBIs, 47 runs and 10 homers with a .303 batting average. Nicklaus ranks 15th in program history in career home runs (27) and sixth in walks drawn ( 124).

    Ryan Ure, Oklahoma State

    Round: 19th | Overall pick: 568 | Team: San Francisco Giants

    Ure spent three seasons with OSU. The left-handed pitcher made 13 relief appearances as a freshman in 2022, and he redshirted the 2023 campaign while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Ure then appeared in nine games last season. He posted a 4.91 ERA with seven strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

    Twine Palmer, Connors State

    Round: 19th | Overall pick: 583 | Team: Houston Astros

    Palmer is a former Kiowa High standout who spent one season at Connors State. The right-handed pitcher recorded a 2.87 ERA with 110 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched last season. Palmer earned an NJCAA Baseball All-American honorable mention for his strong play.

    Carter Frederick, Oklahoma

    Round: 20th | Overall pick: 587 | Team: Kansas City Royals

    Frederick spent the first two years of his career at Western Oklahoma State College before he transferred to OU in 2022. The left-handed pitcher earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention as a senior last season by posting a 5.64 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings.

    Dawson Price, Eastern Oklahoma State

    Round: 20th | Overall pick: 596 | Team: Detroit Tigers

    Price is an outfielder/right-handed pitcher who played for Eastern Oklahoma State last season. The 6-4 freshman recorded 19 RBIs, 23 runs and one homer with a .286 batting average. Price also posted a 1.69 ERA with seven strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings.
