Ribbon cutting ceremony held for new Norman Regional facility

NORMAN, Okla. ( KFOR ) — The Norman Regional Health System celebrated its expansion and completed construction on Friday with a ribbon cutting as it prepares to open its doors to patients on July 28.
Norman Regional Hospital’s expansion includes an expanded emergency department, additional critical care tower, 14 operating rooms and a multi-level parking garage with 700 parking spaces.
“We are opening our newly expanded hospital in nine days, and embarking on an exciting new chapter of service, growth and innovation,” said Richie Splitt, president and CEO of Norman Regional Health System. “Our employees, who we call healers, are energized and ready to provide personalized, compassionate care in this new state-of-the-art environment.”

Norman Regional is merging its two acute care campuses. Its services, such as the emergency department, intensive care unit, surgery services and inpatient care, will move to Norman Regional HealthPlex .
Due to the consolidation, both campuses are expected to change names. Norman Regional HealthPlex will be known as Norman Regional Hospital and the former Norman Regional Hospital will become Porter Health Village.
The Porter Emergency Department will no longer provide emergency medical treatment and will change over as an Urgent Care clinic.

The Norman Regional Urgent Care will begin seeing patients in the former Emergency Department space at 901 N. Porter Ave. It will open at 7 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024.
The Education Center, which is being remodeled and will open in the fall of 2024.
The Cancer Management Center, Medical Oncology and PET/CT, until the completion of the OU Stephenson Cancer Center at the new Norman Regional Hospital Campus in 2025.
