Jackson Arnold is the expected quarterback starter for the Oklahoma Sooners after playing in seven games with one start last season. Arnold and the Sooners are now in the SEC with the Texas Longhorns, and the Oklahoma QB is not afraid of the new challenge.

Arnold is replacing Dillon Gabriel, who left the program in the offseason to join the Oregon Ducks. Gabriel had 6,828 passing yards and 55 touchdowns with the Sooners from 2022-23.

Arnold felt that the offensive line was one of the main reasons Oklahoma was ready for the SEC. In a recent interview with SoonerScoop, he pointed to the players the team added through the portal and in the 2024 class to support his claim.

“I feel like the guys that we’ve brought in, from either the transfer portal or the 2024 class, are really competitive, big guys who can get after it,” Arnold said. “They got after us today in practice, you know.
