City Administrative Offices to close for Independence Day
City of Norman Administrative Offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2022, in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Sanitation services, including recycling and commercial pickup, will still occur and be on regular schedule on Monday, July 4, 2022. Water customers reminded to use odd/even watering schedule during hot summer months
With summer in full swing and temperatures sizzling, water demand is up. Peaking water demands tax the City’s water supply and can create lower water pressure. Water customers should be conscious of water use and practice odd/even watering for outside irrigation and watering practices to reduce the peak effect.
Alameda Street to close between Ridge Lake Drive and 36th Avenue East on Wednesday, June 29, 2022
Beginning Wednesday, June 29, 2022, Alameda Street will be closed to traffic between Ridge Lake Drive and 36th Avenue East for the widening and reconstruction of Alameda Street. Silver Star Construction has been completing items along the edges of this segment of roadway since April 13, 2022, to minimize the closure time. The roadway is anticipated to be closed until September 2022. Detour routes will be installed prior to the closure of Alameda Street.
Norman water efficiency project to receive $2 million in federal funding
Advanced Water Metering Project is one of 14 projects selected nationwide. As part of funding provided through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the City of Norman and Norman Utilities Authority is set to receive $2 million by way of the Bureau of Reclamation to put toward Advanced Water Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Implementation in the community. The announcement was made through the Department of the Interior on June 21 and released alongside a list outlining 14 water efficiency projects in eight states to receive grants. Norman saw the only successful grant project application in the state of Oklahoma.
Westwood Family Aquatic Center Season Passes Nearly Sold Out
The window to purchase a season pass for the 2022 summer season at the Westwood Family Aquatic Center will close on Thursday, June 24, 2022. Season passes are available for anyone to purchase online at normanparks.com or in person at Westwood, 1017 Fairway Dr. in Norman. Season Pass benefits include early access daily to the aquatic center, discounts on swim lessons and other classes, and entry for lap swimming, water walking, and toddler time is included.

One-lane southbound traffic at portion of Flood Avenue beginning June 21, 2022
To accommodate for construction, contractors are slated to close approximately 900 feet of the outside, southbound lane on Flood Avenue during working hours (approximately 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays) for four days beginning June 21, 2022. The closure will begin north of Lexington Street. Signs and safety cones will be removed at the end of each working day opening the lane for traffic outside of working hours of the contractor.
