Cascade Locks prepares as Whisky Creek Fire burns
CASCADE LOCKS, Oregon. - The Whisky Creek Fire is now on its fifth day, burning in the Mark O. Hatfield wilderness just outside the town of Cascade Locks. “It was a little crazy the first day it happened, we had 100 people for a wedding and I called the bride and was like just so you know there could be a fire moving closer to town,” Praegitzer said.

The Complex Incident Management Team brings additional resources and management capabilities to implement a full suppression strategy for the Whisky Creek Fire, said a press release.

Washougal nabs $22.5M loan for biosolids facility construction
The Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) has awarded the city of Washougal a low-interest $22.5 million loan for the City’s biosolids facility construction project. The funding is part of the DOE’s 2025 Water Quality Combined Funding Program, which is distributing $309 million to dozens of Washington cities and jurisdictions for 136 clean-water projects and infrastructure investments, according to the DOE.
