Lewes man killed in scooter crash
LEWES, Del. – Police say a crash claimed the life of a 77-year-old man in Lewes Monday afternoon. According to police, at around 4:40 p.m., a Honda Accord was driving westbound on Clay Road, approaching Marsh Road. At the same time, a Wolf Brand scooter was reportedly traveling eastbound on Clay Road, approaching Marsh Road. Police say a preliminary investigation determined that the Honda was making a left turn onto Marsh Road, into the scooter’s path of travel. The scooter subsequently hit the Honda, and the driver of the scooter was ejected.

Fiery Route 9 crash creates congestion
A crash on Route 9 near Old Vine Boulevard west of Five Points slowed traffic in the area. The incident occurred about 2:12 p.m., July 30, west of Lewes when a vehicle crashed into an apartment building and caught on fire. Three vehicles were involved in the incident. A building at The Vineyards also caught fire.

Emergency Officials Respond to Vehicle Collision & Structure Fire in Sussex County
LEWES, DE - Multiple emergency officials responded to a motor vehicle collision that was quickly upgraded to a structure fire in Sussex County on Tuesday. On July 30th, at approximately 2:15pm, Lewes Fire Department was alerted to a motor vehicle collision on Lewes Georgetown Highway. Fire officials say the call was upgraded to an accident with entrapment, and then soon after upgraded to a working structure fire.
Man Serving Life For Lewes Murder Found Dead In Cell
The Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) has announced the death of inmate John P. Dupras, a 79-year-old inmate from Lewes. Dupras had been in custody since 1986 following his conviction for the murder of Donald Niksich. According to news reports from the time, the incident began on August 20, 1986, when Dupras, reportedly angered by taunts from Niksich, confronted him at a business in Lewes’ Five Points area.
