Growing up, Larry Jordan was always the better basketball player than Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Even The GOAT himself admitted that.

But Larry never made it to the NBA, while younger brother Mike was drafted 3rd overall in the 1984 NBA Draft and became the biggest star basketball has ever seen. Mike Jordan became Michael Jordan, while Larry became, well, just Michael's older brother.

"I'm always known as Michael Jordan's brother instead of Larry Jordan, " said Larry. " But there are advantages, too. I was given a speeding ticket in North Carolina recently. I drive a red 1985 Corvette. I would've lost my license, except the district attorney was a big North Carolina and Michael Jordan fan."

Larry was the best basketball player in James Jordan's household

Larry was the second son of James and Deloris Jordan. Because Larry and Mike were born just 11 months apart, they often competed against each other, especially on the basketball court. As the older brother and better player, Larry always won their one-on-one battles.

Larry played college ball at UNC-Wilmington and was drafted by the now-defunct World Basketball League. But he never reached Mike's status and became trapped in his shadow. At first, it wasn't easy. But once he got the hang of it, Larry realized it had its perks.

"People treat you better as a person because of Michael," added Larry. " A lot of great things have happened to me and my family."

MJ credited Larry for making him a better player.

While Larry and the entire Jordan family got plenty of business opportunities after Michael blew off the roof in the NBA, MJ also benefited from his childhood rivalry with his older brother. According to MJ, Larry helped mold his game .

"I look back on my games with him as a great experience when I was young because I developed my love for the game, and it made me work harder to get better," said His Airness.

With hard work and a ridiculous six-inch growth spurt between his sophomore and senior years of high school, Michael caught Dean Smith's eye and took him to UNC. The rest, as they say, is history.
