NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a shooting outside a North Charleston motel that left a man injured.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to the Stay Express Inn on Thursday night after receiving reports of a man who had been shot in the chest.

An incident report from the agency said officers found the victim on the road near Rivers Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound. “The victim was barely conscious when officers began to render medical aid,” police said in their report.

The 26-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police found several .22 caliber shell casings in front of a room at the motel.

According to the report, a witness told officers that a man wearing black clothes had shot the victim and then left in a silver Chevrolet Malibu that was being driven by another male.

    No arrests have been made.
