Jean (Wittenbrink) Crane
Jean (Wittenbrink) Crane, 91, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away on July 20, 2024, with her daughter holding her hand until God led her home. She was born on July 13, 1933, in Boyd, Illinois, the daughter of Emil and Flossie (Stone) Wittenbrink. On March 26,1954 at Boyd Christian Church, she married her childhood sweetheart, Charles D. Crane, who passed away on December 22, 2017. She was also preceded in death by parents and siblings, Francis Wittenbrink, Donald D. Wittenbrink, Doris Harmon and niece Karen Davis.

A shooting is under investigation in Carbondale
CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Police in Carbondale are investigating a shooting. Officers were in the 700 block of S. Lewis Lane on the afternoon of July 20. They cleared the area within a couple of hours and stated there was no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.

Portageville Man Arrested in Illinois
A Portageville man was arrested in Carbondale, IL after he allegedly threatened people with a handgun. According to Carbondale Police, the incident happened in the pre-dawn hours Saturday. As officers were conducting foot patrols, the alleged victims pointed out 21 year old Ethan Jones. Police say they found a handgun in Jones’ waistband.
