Jack White Playing Benefit Concert At American Legion To Buy Venue A New Sound System
Jack White and his band are set to play a benefit concert at the American Legion Post 82 in Nashville on Saturday (July 27). The intimate show is a fundraiser to get the legion a new sound sound system. White announced the gig with a post on Instagram, writing, “Nashville! The American Legion Post 82 needs a new sound system and Third Man Records & Jack White would like to recruit you to help. Come see Jack White and his band perform this Saturday, July 27 at the American Legion Hall for a benefit show.” Fans can sign up for a code that will get you a chance to buy tickets to the show. Portageville man faces weapons charges in Carbondale
A Portageville man faces assault and weapons charges in Carbondale. Officers conducted foot patrols in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue around 2 a.m. on July 20, someone in the area alerted officers that a male had threatened him/her with a handgun. Victims identified the suspect as 21 year old Ethan J. Jones of Portageville. Police say Jones had a handgun in his waistband. He was arrested and the loaded handgun was seized. Jones is not permitted to possess a handgun. Jones faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation is active and ongoing.
SIU Carbondale’s summer 2024 enrollment rises
CARBONDALE – Following a strong fall and spring, Southern Illinois University Carbondale is enjoying increasing enrollment this summer, up about 3.4% from last year. “This great news is the result of the tireless efforts of many Salukis and the strategic planning outlined in Imagine 2030,” Chancellor Austin A. Lane said. “In recent years, we have improved access, removed barriers and promoted what SIU Carbondale has to offer.
