Ravens rookie CB T.J. Tampa to miss start of training camp after hernia surgery
The Baltimore Ravens have their entire team at training camp, but they kicked off Day 1 without two key rookie contributors: Adisa Isaac and cornerback T.J. Tampa. Tampa could miss time to start his first training camp after having off-season hernia surgery. Ravens rookie CB T. J. Tampa had hernia surgery after minicamp. So Tampa, who is on PUP list, will be sidelined for few more weeks — Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) July 21, 2024 Tampa started every game for the Cyclones the past two seasons and was named to the first-team All-Big 12 squad as a senior after recording 44 tackles, nine passes defended, and a pair of interceptions. Baltimore doubled up at cornerback because the value was too good, selecting Tampa out of Iowa State in the fourth round. The former Iowa State defensive back offers elite range, size, and leaping ability. The Ravens have their projected starting cornerbacks in Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens, but Tampa will compete for snaps with Nate Wiggins, Arthur Maulet, and others. Tampa and Wiggins were roommates at the Combine and got to know each other.

Orioles should take notes from Padres for their Jackson Holliday approach
Jackson Holliday remains the top prospect in baseball, even after his brief and ultimately ill-fated stint in the majors earlier this season with the Baltimore Orioles. And after some ups and downs upon returning to Triple-A this season and an injury that hampered him some, he's back at second base and has returned to dominating minor-league competition.
Could Orioles reunite with recently DFA'd Mariners reliever?
Orioles fans know full well that this team could use more pitching depth heading into the second half. Rumors are starting to swirl about how GM Mike Elias will approach the trade deadline but it seems clear that the O's will look at a variety of options in order to shore up their rotation and bullpen depth before the end of July.

A Landmark Reimagined: The Revival of Easton’s Waterfowl Building
Standing in front of the Waterfowl Building this past weekend started me thinking about how interesting it is to watch history evolve, listen for echoes of the past, and wonder about future possibilities. After all, this is an Easton landmark—the big castle-looking thing with the geese sculpture. Many still refer to it as ‘The Armory’ due to its prior life as the local home of the Maryland National Guard. However, in 1997, the building was transferred to the Waterfowl Festival and became the Waterfowl Building. Built in 1927, this sturdy structure is almost 100 years old, yet very little has changed. And that’s the problem—very little has changed. While some renovations have been done over the years, it is only now that the efforts have genuinely taken off. Thanks to the Waterfowl Festival’s leadership and local community support, its longevity just might have been extended.

Berlin celebrates 25th anniversary of Runaway Bride, the movie that made the town famous
The small town of Berlin, Maryland, was once known by another name. That is, of course, when filming was underway for the classic 1999 romantic-comedy film Runaway Bride, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. That's right — in 1998, the town of Berlin became the fictional town of Hale, Md., where the film's main female character resides. This...
