Nothing says summer quite like free outdoor Shakespeare and one of the Bay Area's best-loved purveyors swings into action this weekend. The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is embarking on its 42nd season of Free Shakespeare in the Park. This year's production, running Saturday through Sept. 8 at three outdoor sites, is "The Tempest." It's believed that the Bard penned the play around 1610-11, and that it represents one of the last plays he wrote on his own.

BART Begins Replacing Fare Gates at SF Civic Center Station
Work is underway to replace BART fare gates at the Civic Center station in San Francisco. Crews are doing each set one at a time, starting with the gates closest to the Seventh Street entrance. Those are closed for construction, the other two remain open. A new six-foot-tall gate was already installed at the station’s elevator entrance in April. The goal is to stop riders from jumping over and hopping aboard trains without paying.

Oakland-Alameda free water shuttle service resumes after launch day issues
The force of impact from docking the new Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle likely caused the damage that forced an 18-hour service suspension, the ferry agency said.Crews installed temporary fendering on the boat to add cushion during docking, according to San Francisco Bay Ferry agency spokesperson Thomas Hall.
