A man was held against his will, choked with a belt and stabbed at a home on Cape Cod before escaping early Thursday morning, police said. The two alleged kidnappers were soon arrested — one of them, who'd been wanted in a separate incident on the Cape, after a brief chase on foot, according to Barnstable police.

WAREHAM — A former Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School teacher accused of raping a student has received another date to return to court. Andre Arsenault, 35, appeared Thursday in Wareham District Court on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or over — offenses allegedly committed towards an Old Colony student while Arsenault was a teacher at the school, according to reports.

Accident leads to up-Island power outages
Up-Island police responded to two accidents overnight on Thursday evening, one that cut power in multiple towns. In West Tisbury, police responded to a single motor-vehicle accident on State Road close to midnight. Chief Matt Mincone said that the driver — 23-year-old Isabelle Cole from Chelmsford — crashed into a utility pole. A witness told police that the vehicle had flipped over and was smoking from one of the tires.

Towns Grant Police Harbor Patrol Designation
A boat crash on Chappaquiddick earlier this year prompted two Island police departments to designate more officers to harbor patrols to better enforce the law on the water. PLYMOUTH – Today, the Municipal Police Training Committee Executive Director Robert Ferullo and Plymouth Academy Director Eileen Goodick announced the graduation of 61 police officers from the MPTC Plymouth Police Academy’s 76th Recruit Officer Class (ROC). The graduates successfully completed over 20 weeks of intensive, standardized training in all aspects of law enforcement and will now serve as full-time officers representing 23 police agencies across Massachusetts.
Several ambulances called to crash in Falmouth
FALMOUTH – Four ambulances were called to a traffic crash in Sandwich sometime after 10 PM Friday. The collision happened on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) at Sandwich Road. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Falmouth Police.
Vehicle vs boat trailer stalls traffic on Route 151 in Mashpee
MASHPEE – A Jeep collided with a boat trailer in Mashpee around 10 AM Thursday. The crash happened on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) near Old Barnstable Road. The trailer attached to a pickup truck appeared to be carrying a Mashpee Department of Natural resources vessel. No injuries were reported. The incident is under investigation. Traffic was tied up in the area until the vehicles could be removed.
Driver extricated after traffic on Route 28 in Mashpee
MASHPEE – Firefighters had to extricate a victim from a traffic collision in Mashpee. The crash happened on Falmouth Road (Route 28) by Sampsons Mill Road. The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital under a trauma alert. Traffic was tied up in the area while the scene was worked. Mashpee Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
