Letter to the editor: Public schools shouldn't teach religion
With the news about Oklahoma requiring the Bible to be taught in public schools, I offer my humble opinion. No more separation of church and state. Everyone has their own opinion on this and everything in life, I am sure. My problem is whose bible and what is being taught. This is not a Christian, Jewish, Muslim or any other one-religion nation. The forefathers wrote all men are created equal, which they were before they wrote it.
Canton City School District gets state funding to upgrade crossings and sidewalks
Canton City Schools will receive $500,000 as part of the Ohio Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to School program, which focuses on the safety of children who walk or bike to school. Akron teachers' union accuses school district of 'union-busting'
The Akron Education Association sent a cease and desist letter to Akron Public Schools over accusations of replacing union jobs with non-union ones. The alleged "union-busting" is over the 55 positions that AEA teachers have filled at the district's central office. Those teachers were all reassigned to classroom teaching jobs ahead of next school year. But the union is alleging the district is hiring new people outside of union coverage to do the work those teachers...

CANTON – Canton Country Day School has appointed Patrick Ater as its new head of school. Ater has 17 years of teaching experience at the school. A lifetime resident of Stark County, Patrick resides in Plain Township with his family; wife, Maureen, and daughters Audrey, Grace, and Evelyn, all students at Canton County Day School.
