    Reported brush fire on Middle Run Road NE turns out to be farmer's controlled burn

    LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – Firefighters from Bolivar and Dover responded to the report of a large brush fire in the 7000 block of Middle Run Road NE late Thursday afternoon after motorists reported large plumes of thick smoke coming from the area.

    Upon arrival, firefighters found a farmer using a tractor to mow his property, all the while keeping watchful eye over a controlled burn of brush set a good distance away from trees or other combustibles. He was instructed to keep watching it and to call the fire department if there were any problems.

    Firefighters noted that they are obligated to respond to anything reported.

    There were no injuries or damage reported.
