Man charged with threatening, assaulting St. Peter officers

A North Mankato man is facing felony charges after reportedly headbutting and threatening to kill a police officer before being placed under arrest for destroying property outside a local residence facility.

Aaron Nicholas Father, 20, is charged with felony threats of violence, felony and gross misdemeanor assault on a peace officer in the fourth degree and misdemeanor fourth degree damage to property.

On May 30, St. Peter Police received a report of a disturbance at a local residence facility where Father was destroying property. According to the criminal complaint, Father had shattered the front window of one of the residence units and threw a pedestal base lamp out through the hole towards two staff members. He continued to throw items out the window, striking and denting the hood of a vehicle belonging to a staff member.

When police responded, they found Father outside the residence facility and had him sit in a plastic chair while they spoke to staff. Father proceeded to attempt to tip the chair over and fall face first onto the ground. An officer placed his hand on Father’s shoulder and told him to stop multiple times, which resulted in Father telling the officer he would kill him and bite off his arm.

Father then attempted to bite the officer according to the complaint, but missed as the officer moved his hand away. The defendant then stood up and headbutted the officer in his forehead and threatened to kill him. The officer then brought Father to the ground to restrain him and placed him under arrest.
