Woman detained in North Miami stabbing
NORTH MIAMI, Okla. — A woman is detained in a northeast Oklahoma stabbing, officials with Quapaw Nation Marshal Service say. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to call for a stabbing in North Miami at 712 Pine St. just before 9 a.m. Thursday and found a man with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to a Joplin hospital.

One injured in Quapaw shooting, suspect search continues
QUAPAW, Okla. — One man is injured after a shooting in northeast Oklahoma as authorities continue searching for their suspect, Thursday morning. A call for a shooting at a Quapaw residence at 501 S. Cherry St. came in around 3:28 a.m. Authorities with Quapaw Nation Marshal Service responded to the scene and located a man with a gunshot wound to the face. The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Oklahoma Woman Pleads Guilty To Entering US Capitol On January 6th
An Oklahoma woman has pleaded guilty to charges of illegally entering the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Tricia LaCount of Afton entered a guilty plea to entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds on Wednesday. LaCount had also been charged with disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, violent entry into a capitol building, and demonstrating in a capitol building.
Galena Police Officers Make Arrest After Altercation
On June 30 at approximately 5:30 pm, The Galena Police Department was notified of a physical altercation in the area of 11th and Keller Street. As officers arrived on scene, one of the individuals took off on foot. As officers were chasing this individual, he attempted to enter three residences then ended up taking a bicycle from a female as she rode past him. He eventually ditched the bicycle south of Baker Street and ran into the wooded area, crossing a fence line into thick brush. When officers caught up to the induvial, he continued to physically resist. As the officers placed hand restraints on him, he spit, attempted to smear blood and other body fluids on the arresting officers making threats to all responding personnel.
Galena Police Department announces new police chief
GALENA, Kan. — Galena has found a new police chief, and he’s no stranger to the department. Noble Dobkins will be the new police chief for the Galena Police Department. Over the last 10-plus years he has been working for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, previously working in a part-time role for the Columbus and Galena Police Departments.
Baxter Springs receives Platinum Community Traffic Safety Award
The Baxter Springs Police Department received a Platinum Community Traffic Safety Award from the Kansas Department of Transportation. This award was presented for the department’s focus on traffic safety in 2023. This award was given based on our collective efforts in education, safety programs, and enforcement. In 2023 the Baxter Springs Police Department added two certified Car Seat Technicians to our department. These Car Seat Technicians can inspect car seats to make sure they are properly installed and the right size the child.
