A Conway man was arrested for kidnapping a woman after she left a North Myrtle Beach business.

Darrell Allen Faehr, 28, was arrested by North Myrtle Beach on July 16, 2024, on charges of kidnapping and second-degree assault and battery.

A caller contacted police on July 12, 2024, saying that a 22-year-old female showed up at their condo on Perrin Drive and said that a man had kidnapped her and brought her there.

When police arrived, the victim, who appeared to be uninjured, said that she was walking along U.S. 17 South from a friend’s place of work to her work at Eagles Beachwear when an unknown man pulled up beside her, according to a police report.

The man began to talk to her and offered her a ride. She declined at first, but he convinced her to get in the vehicle with the agreement that he would take her to her work to pick up her check. Once she got to work and collected her check, she came back out and the man was waiting on her.

He again offered her a ride, and once again she declined, stating she would get an Uber, the report said. However, he once again convinced her to get into the vehicle. The man began to take “back streets” and was not taking her to her home on Second Avenue, the report said.

She told the man several times to stop and let her out, and he refused, the report said. He then allegedly unbuttoned his pants and grabbed her hand, forcing it down the front of his pants. He then pulled into the Malibu Pointe Condos.

As soon as the vehicle stopped in the parking garage, the victim got out and began running, the report said. She began looking for an unlocked door and once she found one, she went inside and locked the door behind her. Once inside, she heard a knock and then one of the renters’ children found her and alerted an adult, the report said.

The victim described the man and his vehicle, adding that he had bags of take-out in his vehicle.

The suspect, later identified as Faehr, was arrested after a traffic stop on July 16, 2024, while traveling on U.S. 17 South.

He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and released July 17, 2024, on a $15,000 bond.
