NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A family who visited North Myrtle Beach in June said their trip was saved after someone returned their son’s favorite toy cars that went missing.

The McDaniels are a family of seven from West Virginia and were staying at Crescent Keyes Condominiums in North Myrtle Beach when a stranger’s act of kindness surprised two grateful parents — and saved their son from many tears.

According to Mollie McDaniel, 4-year-old Bryce brings his Lightning McQueen bag filled with dozens of cars wherever he goes.

But during their vacation last month, Mollie and her husband Tyler said Bryce played with his cars everywhere, but no one realized that three of the cars were gone.

Until someone rang their doorbell and the family found the three missing cars, carefully placed in a row at the foot of their door.

Bryce’s parents were surprised and thankful that a stranger went out of their way to keep their son happy.

“Not many people in the world nowadays do what they’ve done,” Tyler McDaniel said. “They would’ve just walked past it and went on.”

Mollie said Bryce was both with brain damage and a genetic disorder. Last year, he was diagnosed on the autism spectrum.

She said despite those challenges, Bryce has always found reasons to smile.

“He’s had a really, really hard first four years of life,” Mollie said. “But he turns everything into something positive. He is the light of our live in a lot of ways.”

The McDaniels are still hoping to find the person who returned their son’s toy cars, so they — and Bryce, can say “thank you.”
