Plainfield Celebrates Linward Cathcart, Harvey Judkins and the Anniversary of the Plainfield Avenue Pool
PLAINFIELD, NJ — In the late 1960s, Harvey Judkins was one of two Black councilmen on Plainfield's 11-member governing body. Plainfield was a Republican city at the time, and its business and political leaders were overwhelmingly members of the GOP, including Harvey Judkins, a successful businessman who owned a funeral home. A New Plainfield Commercial is on the Way
PLAINFIELD, NJ — At last week's Plainfield City Council meeting, the governing body voted unanimously to approve the production and airing of a new commercial. It will cost $70,000, which will be paid with Urban Enterprise Zone funds, and will hit the television channels as well as digital platforms. "The target [of the commercial] is to bring people into Plainfield, not just to live, of course, but also to eat, to shop, to use our restaurants," said City Business Administrator Abby Levenson of the latest Plainfield commercial, whose production hadn't yet started.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The commercial will be televised in English only, but might be available in multiple languages digitally, according to Levenson. RAHWAY, NJ — The Rahway Police Department announced, at approximately 5:10 p.m., on Sunday, July 21, that NJ Transit service is suspended from Newark to Metro Park due to lines down on the tracks. Union Education Assoc. to Host Annual Town-Wide Block Party
UNION, NJ - A "Town-Wide Block Party", hosted by the Union Township Education Association (UTEA), is set for Tuesday, August 13, in Rabkin Park for all Union residents. The Eagle Scout service project highlights the Scout's leadership abilities and positively impacts the community. East Orange resident Rashawn Stuart is a dedicated member of Troop 5350 in Belleville. Rashawn planned, supervised and constructed 21 Wood Duck Boxes for the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland. Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. congratulated him on his achievement and thanked him for completing his Eagle Scout project within the Essex County Park System. A loud noise similar to an explosion was reported by residents across Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan and New Jersey on Tuesday morning. After several hours of speculation by residents on social media, an official with the city Emergency Management department said that NASA confirmed that a meteor entered the atmosphere above Manhattan.
