NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Italian Air Force landed in the state for the first time Monday afternoon. Just east of North Platte, an aircraft formation was spotted at the regional airport and many ventured outside to take photos and videos. After the almost dozen jets landed at North Platte Regional Airport, many were in awe when they saw the Italian flag on the back of the fighters.

City to chlorinate water again
The North Platte Water Department will chlorinate drinking water for four days for preventative maintenance. The target area is the north side of town, in and around the new water main installation on West Ninth St. The chlorination begins on Tuesday July 2 and runs through Friday July 5, said Water Protection Specialist Derek Thompson.
Central Nebraska logs 2+ inches of rain Monday, adds onto already wet year
KEARNEY, Neb. — A wet year for Central Nebraska continued with record-setting rainfall on Monday. The Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island registered 2.07 inches of rain, which set a new record for July 1. But that wasn’t even the most rain recorded in the region. The Kearney Regional Airport reported 2.5 inches, which is more rain than the city received in the entire month of June. Stromsburg and Johnson Lake each logged nearly four inches of rain.
