Thursday joined Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington for the ribbon cutting and celebration of its newly modernized emergency department. The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s (SVMC) Kendall Emergency Department, Stout Thomson Waiting Area and Outpatient Registration along with the Richard and Pamela Ader Foundation Lobby and the Jackie and Tony Marro Café includes renovations to expand emergency services and care to Bennington and nearby communities. Hungry Lion bike tour returns next month
WHITINGHAM - The 13th Hungry Lion Bike Tour, sponsored by the Deerfield Valley Lions, will be held on Saturday, September 28. The beautiful Town Hill will be the event base. This fall foliage cycling tour has become a favorite in New England and includes five different rides for cyclists of all abilities, from a short 5-mile loop to a 75-mile challenge. Walkers are also welcome to choose between two- or five-mile routes.

Historical Society remembers Mountain Mills 100 years later
WILMINGTON - This month marked the conclusion of a yearlong commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the flooding of Mountain Mills. The commemoration, led by the Historical Society of Wilmington, comprised numerous site visits around town related to the once-thriving community that ceased to exist in 1924 when the New England Power Company flooded it to create the Harriman Reservoir.
