I was visiting the Roger Williams Park carousel Friday morning when I recognized the strains of the traditional Italian song “Santa Lucia” being played off in the distance. The park was still quiet and it was really quite beautiful. I followed the music down to the lake where I found swan wrangler Jordan playing his Anglo concertina.

New accessible Discovery Trail at Copicut Woods in Fall River opens
FALL RIVER, Mass. – The Trustees held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of an accessible Discovery Trail at Copicut Woods on Indian Town Road in Fall River on Monday. The event featured brief remarks by Katie Theoharides, president and CEO of The Trustees. She was joined by several locally elected officials, including Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan, Maureen Flanagan from State Senator Michael Rodrigues’ office, and State Representatives Carole Fiola and Paul Schmid. Also on hand was Paul Jahnige, director of the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation and representatives from MassTrails and the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Islanders were tickled pink to see a rare and unusual visitor in a Little Compton marsh over the weekend. An American flamingo was spotted wading through the water at Briggs Marsh, according to eBird, which is an app managed by Cornell University’s Lab of Orinthology.

Grizzlies Let The Grooves and Rhythms Flow with ‘Love In Short Paragraphs’
Love has the ability to come across in a variety of ways. It can come in a hug, an act of kindness, a kiss or even a few written words. This fact can often be fascinating and sometimes puzzling, but it does deserve to be recognized and examined. Hence the debut full-length “Love In Short Paragraphs” from the Providence alt-funk act Grizzlies, which they self-released on June 28. There’s a soulful vibe being conveyed via the groovy rhythms courtesy of bassist Mikaela Villani, drummer Riley Smith and keyboardist Emily Iwuc while complimenting the excellent riffs from guitarist Josh Zenil and Cynthia Munrayos’ vocal delivery.
