A woman who authorities say threatened an officer with a knife was hospitalized after she was shot by North Richland Hills police outside her apartment.

At around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call about a person in crisis who the caller reported as “out of control,” police said in a news release.

When officers arrived at the Haven NRH Apartments on Rufe Snow Drive, they found a woman who was breaking items in the parking lot before going back into her apartment, according to police.

The officers tried to contact the woman by knocking on her apartment door, which is when she came out and threatened an officer with a knife and advanced toward him, according to the release. The officer fired his gun, shooting the woman.

Officers provided medical attention until paramedics arrived and the woman was transported to a local hospital.

She is listed in stable condition, and no officers were injured, police say.
