Following a lengthy investigation by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, an Addison man was arrested on animal cruelty charges in rural Sandwich Tuesday morning. 60-year-old Mohammad M. Raza-Ahsan was taken into custody on two counts of cruel treatment of animals and three counts of animal cruelty-owner's duties at the property located in the 17000 block of Wagner Road.

Brookfield may soon introduce a new class of liquor license to the village. At its July 22 committee of the whole meeting, the Brookfield village board discussed the possibility of creating a liquor license for businesses that specialize in art or artisan products and host regular classes or events. The license would allow these businesses to provide and serve alcohol to registered guests at events on the premises. Businesses with this kind of license would not be allowed to serve alcohol outside of scheduled events.
