Mentor Public Library hosts talk on Mansfield reformatory
Discover the history of the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield during a free program at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave. The reformatory was once the largest of its kind in the United States and held the most dangerous criminals in the country, according to a news release. Even though it closed in 1990, the prison is still familiar because of its use as a set in everything from music videos to hit films like “Tango & Cash” and “The Shawshank Redemption.”
