Danbury Settles Property Tax Suits
The city of Danbury has settled lawsuits to lower property taxes for five businesses. One of them just happens to be a Stop & Shop that is on the list of those scheduled to close by November. The settlements over all, will reduce the city’s commercial assessments by $19 million, impacting the tax rolls. Other businesses benefiting include Ethan Allen, Hancock Hall, Lee Farm Corporate Park, and AMC Danbury 16. The agreements, stemming from the 2022 revaluation, highlight the ongoing challenge of maintaining the city’s tax base amidst corporate tax appeals.
