BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — North Tonawanda’s Platter’s Chocolate Factory and Ellicottville Brewing Company came together to create a new beer: Pineapple Orange Whip Dessert Ale, featuring flavors of tropical pineapple, fresh orange purée, and hints of creamy vanilla.

The drink is inspired by Platter Cafe’s signature summer whipped frozen dessert. It’s currently available in four packs with 16-ounce cans in Western New York bars, grocery stores and beer stores.

Ellicottville Brewing Company and Platter’s first collaboration was in 2019 with their Orange Chocolate Blonde Ale. The Pineapple Orange Whip Dessert Ale is the seventh addition to their beer catalog.

“When thinking of new ideas for beer flavors, we decided upon the orange pineapple whip,” Amanda Mye, Platter’s Chocolate Factory’s general manager, said in a release. “We were trying to think of something light that would fit perfectly for summer. An orange whip was first suggested, and I then suggested maybe we try adding pineapple.”

Samples of the new beer along with a chocolate pairing and more will be offered from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at Fattey Beer Company in the Wurlitzer Building.
