New Details On Streator City Park Shooting
If you've been following the story about a weekend shooting at City Park in Streator, more details have been released. Investigators say at around 4:45 Saturday afternoon, two men had an apparent dispute at the park. One man left, only to come back with several others. Police believe the man who left and came back, walked up to the man he argued with earlier and fired several shots from a semi-automatic handgun. The victim, according to Streator police, was wounded "at least twice". The accused shooter fled the scene in a blue coupe that was later found abandoned on the south side of Streator.
Fire Departments Respond To Reported Garage Fire In La Salle
A fire broke out Monday afternoon a few blocks northeast of L-P High School. Just past 12:30, La Salle, Peru and Utica firefighters were called about a garage on fire in the 800 block of Lafayette Street. The detached garage was fully engulfed by time crews started arriving. Nobody was hurt in the blaze and it was contained to the garage.

The Peru Minor League softball team went 3-0 in pool play at the state tournament in Evergreen Park, outscoring its three opponents 50-6, to advance to the semifinals. On Saturday, Peru defeated Twin Rivers 10-0 in four innings and Clear Ridge 27-3 in three innings. Peru did not allow a hit in either game.

Streator police released more details Monday on what they believe led to a shooting Saturday afternoon in City Park. Police said two men had an apparent dispute Saturday in the parking lot of City Park. One of them left, only to return in a blue two door coupe with several other occupants, police said. The person who exited the vehicle walked up to the man he had encountered earlier in the parking lot and fired several shots from a semi-auto handgun, wounding him at least twice, police said.
