A Pennsylvania woman is accused of lying when she said a juvenile brandished a firearm at a North Wildwood amusement park.

The report caused Morey's Pier to be evacuated.

Taylor Erickson, 29, was charged Thursday with second-degree crimes of causing a false public alarm and false reports to law enforcement.

Police were called to 25th and the beach for the report of a juvenile male brandishing a firearm June 22.

Erickson told police the boy entered Morey’s Pier, sparking the evacuation.

She also gave a detailed description of the suspect and the firearm, which was broadcast to the Wildwood Police Department and led to a response from Cape May County SWAT.

The alleged suspect would later be located by the Wildwood Police Department and confirmed not to be in possession of any firearm. The pier was immediately reopened after any potential threats were cleared.

But there was never a threat, according to an investigation by North Wildwood Detective Vincent Deritis.

Video surveillance was unable to corroborate the woman's story, nor were witnesses, police said.

Erickson later admitted to making up the story after a verbal altercation.

She was charged on a summons and released, as per bail reform, police said.
