Danville, Pa. — The Danville Borough Council recently approved preliminary development plans for a Wawa store.

The council reviewed land development plans and gave a conditional approval at the May 14 meeting, according to Brindy Mordan, borough manager. The borough's planning commission had reviewed the land development and subdivision plans for the convenience store and gas station that will potentially be built on 4.5 acres of vacant land on Montour Boulevard.

Plans were also submitted for a proposed fast-food restaurant that has not yet been named.

The land sits across from State Hospital Drive. The Danville High School sits across the road from the site on Route 11. The intersection of Route 11 and State Hospital Drive would become a four-way intersection, with a driveway that would lead into a parking lot. There would be access from that parking lot to the proposed unnamed fast-food restaurant, as well as Wawa's fuel pumps and convenience store.

There are several items that the developers need to check off before council gives the plans full approval, according to Mordan.

Danville Development, LLC, of Ambler, is heading the project.

A reporter reached out to public relations for Wawa, but did not hear back as of publication.
