Allenwood, Pa. — A Scranton woman was arrested after she concealed $527 of items in a bag at a dollar store and left without paying.

Belinda Sepkoski, 50, went to the Allenwood Dollar General store on July 21 where she took a pink canvas bag inside the store and started filling it with merchandise, according to the affidavit.

The store manager told Trp. Casey Ward of state police at Milton that Sepkoski set off the security alarm when she left the store with the unpaid merchandise. The manager had seen Sepkoski at the store several times before this incident, according to the affidavit.

Sepkoski then got into her vehicle and left. Ward was able to trace the registration for the vehicle to an address in Clinton Township, Lycoming County. When Ward arrived at the home, a man answered the door and advised that Sepkoski was there, as well as the stolen items from Dollar General, according to the affidavit. The man gave Ward the pink canvas bag with the stolen items, as well as Sepkoski's purse. When the man went inside the home to retrieve Sepkoski, he found that she had left.

Ward went back to the store with the stolen items and discovered Sepkoski had taken a total of 70 items totaling $527.

Sepkoski was eventually located and charged with felony retail theft due to having two previous shoplifting convictions. District Judge Jeffrey Mensch set bail at $2,500. Sepkoski's preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 13.
