Selinsgrove, Pa. — Multiple employees of Hometown Disposal went on strike Saturday, according to a local union member.

The strike began on Saturday, Aug. 4, after the bargaining unit of employees voted down the company's "best and final offer" for their first contract, according to a union representative. The bargaining unit has fourteen employees.

"The outstanding issues are overtime, insurance, vacations, holidays, retirement, leaves of absences, wages, and maintenance of standards," said a union representative in an email. "The company has not budged or given clarification/specifics on these outstanding issues."

"It is our desire to get back to the table and to reach an agreement that both sides are agreeable to and to get back to work as soon as possible," said Ty Sees, president, Teamsters Local 764.

Hometown Disposal serves hundreds of customers across five counties: Snyder, Northumberland, Union, Montour and Lycoming.

A representative for the company at their call center, located in West Virginia, said that the company's operations are running are normal and she was not given any further details about the strike.
