The Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK) and prominent Republicans from across Kentucky were in Frankfort this week to celebrate the groundbreaking for an expansion of the Mitch McConnell Building, which serves as the Kentucky Republican Headquarters.

This addition marks the most significant renovation of the building since it was acquired in 1974. The expansion, on a vacant lot adjacent to the current headquarters, will add 6,800 square feet—doubling the size of the McConnell Building. It will also feature new office and meeting spaces, including a state-of-the-art auditorium with seating for up to 160 people.

“I want to thank everyone who attended today’s groundbreaking and express my deep gratitude to our donors who made this project possible,” said RPK Chairman Robert Benvenuti. “I also want to thank Leader McConnell for his unwavering commitment to our state party. Before his election to the U.S. Senate in 1984, our party was a shadow of its current self. Even 40 years later, you remain dedicated to advancing conservative values in the Commonwealth. Your efforts, along with many others, have made the Republican Party the dominant force in Kentucky politics. This new addition to our headquarters symbolizes how far we’ve come and the strength of our party and its conservative values here in Kentucky.”

McConnell said, “I’ve always said that winners make policy and losers go home. Here in my home state, RPK’s grassroots work, cementing conservative wins across the Commonwealth, has set the stage for years of Republican reform from Frankfort to Washington. Today, our party enjoys supermajorities in both chambers, holding on to the state Senate for over two decades and, in recent years, ending over a century of Democrat control in the state House. Our movement hit a major milestone when registered Republicans grew to outnumber registered Democrats for the first time in Kentucky’s history. I’m grateful to RPK’s dedicated team and all my fellow Kentucky Republicans for decades of advocating our principles, knocking on doors, and fighting for every last vote to make this success possible.”

The RPK says, this new expansion will symbolize the Party’s remarkable growth over the past 40 years and will enable the state party to offer even more resources and support to Republicans throughout Kentucky.
