The Northfield High School Hiliners dance team ended its 2023-24 season with a trip to the MSHSL Class AA Jazz championships, which took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday, Feb. 16.

The Hiliners were one of just 12 teams in the state to advance to the Class AA finals, and they finished in 11th place at the Jazz championships preliminaries with a total of 54 points.

Of the six teams that advanced to the finals, Benilde-St. Margaret won by a tie-breaker after finishing with seven points along with Orono. Mound Westonka placed third with 15 points, followed by Totino-Grace (20), Holy Family (25) and Becker (30).

This marked the first time in 17 years that Northfield advanced to the state tournament in Dance. The Hiliners earned their trip to the Target Center after placing third at the recent Section 1AA championships in the Jazz category.
