Animal welfare advocates offering $10,000 reward for info about person who wounded cat with a shotgun
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Animal welfare advocates are seeking information on a neighborhood cat who lost his leg after being wounded with a shotgun earlier this year. On April 13, George, a 3-year-old neighborhood cat living in Henrietta Township in Lorain County, was found with a badly wounded back leg that was later amputated. The township is in western Lorain County, near South Amherst and Oberlin, and it borders Huron County.

Wellington 6-year-old competing at national motocross event
Cameron Wolfe Jr. is a decade away from being able to legally drive down the highway but he already has the need for speed. The 6-year-old Wellington resident is one of 40 youth motocross racers from across the country in his division to qualify for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship that begins Monday at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Ellerhorst Dental Opens in Mantua
Dr. Lydia Ellerhorst was born and raised in Garrettsville. She began her education at Mount Union, completing her dental degree at The Ohio State University. Afterward, she served in the United States Army Dental Corps from 2009 to 2014. “It was five years of hard work, caring for the dental needs of soldiers in and out of deployment.” During that time, she saw eight patients a day, five days a week. While in the Army Dental Corp, Dr. Ellerhorst also completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency program at Fort Bragg NC, graduating in 2012. She and her family returned to Garrettsville shortly afterward. For the last seven years, she’s worked at a dental clinic in Courtland.

Wine Dive to host grand opening in Lakewood as affordable wine bar, restaurant
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wine Dive will hold its official grand opening in Lakewood this week, bringing an affordable wine bar and restaurant menu to town. Wine Dive, 16918 Detroit Avenue, took over the space formerly occupied by El Carnicero, which closed earlier this year. It’s the latest project from restauranteur Dan Deagan, who owns and operates Lakewood and Beachwood truck parks, Humble Wine Bar and Dive Bar Cleveland. He previously ran Deagan’s in Lakewood, which closed last year and is now home to Solstice restaurant and bar.
