After a two-year truce, militant investor Sardar Biglari is mounting another attempt to take control of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. The operator of retro-themed family restaurants revealed Monday that Biglari is seeking five of the seats on Cracker Barrel’s 10-person board of directors. With a proxy already on the board as the result of an earlier effort to appease Biglari, the activist would wield a majority of votes.

Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino rolled out a new three-year plan to revive the struggling Southern-themed chain after she admitted the brand was “just not as relevant.”  

The down-home chain, featuring dishes like country fried steak along with the kitschy Old Country Store, plans to remodel its restaurants, offer new menu options, and improve technology for its loyalty program and to-go business.

“Fiscal ’25, which starts for us in another week or two, is really an investment year,” Felss Masino told CNBC’s Jim Cramer on Thursday.

Sun Holdings, one of the nation’s largest franchise operators, has acquired Austin, Texas-based fast casual concept Freebirds World Burrito. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Subway has called a hasty meeting with franchisees of its 19,000 North American sandwich shops as they grapple with faltering sales and profits, The Post has learned.
