WOODLAWN, The Bronx (NYPD) – The NYPD is on the lookout for a man suspected of an attempted rape in the Bronx early Saturday morning.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 45-year-old Miguel Rivera. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old woman was walking in the Woodlawn area. According to police reports, Rivera allegedly approached the woman from behind, put her in a chokehold, and forcefully dragged her to the ground. The attack left the woman shaken but fortunately, she managed to sustain only minor injuries.

After the assault, Rivera reportedly fled the scene on a blue scooter. The NYPD has been actively searching for him and has released his name and description in hopes of gathering more information from the public.

The victim, despite the traumatic experience, was able to seek medical attention promptly. She was treated for minor injuries and is expected to recover physically. However, the emotional and psychological impact of such a violent encounter can be long-lasting, highlighting the need for supportive resources for victims of such crimes.

This incident underscores the ongoing issue of violence against women and the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement. The NYPD is urging anyone with information about Rivera’s whereabouts to come forward.
