The Mom Club 212: Sharon Feiereisen on Creating a Network of Moms with PurposePhoto bythemomsclub212 Instagram

In the bustling cities of Tel Aviv and New York, Sharon Feiereisen, a dedicated mother and journalist, found herself searching for connection and community. With two young children and little to no childcare, she realized the need for a space where moms could come together, support one another, and make a difference in the world. This need led Sharon to create The Mom Club 212, an initiative that has quickly grown into a powerful network for mothers seeking both social interaction and a way to give back. Here’s the story of how Sharon Feiereisen turned her vision into reality, and the impact The Mom Club 212 is having on moms and their communities.

    1. Sparrow - What inspired you to start The Mom Club, and how has it evolved since its inception? Sharon - I live between Tel Aviv and New York City and have little to no childcare for my two children - Max who is 3 years old and Nell who is 15 months. The Mom Club 212 was conceived as a way for me to meet other moms while also entertaining both my kids. Given the frightening rise of antisemitism, I wanted the events to be connected with charities that are working tirelessly to make the world better and safer for everyone. My background is in journalism. I've been freelancing since my days at Cornell when I started working for Dan's Papers - I still write for them today! I also spent a few years as managing editor for a parenting site, so I have a ton of brand contacts. These brands are looking to reach moms in our community as they are influential in their own rights and authentic in a way that paid influencers aren't. All of my events start with an activity that moms can do with or without their children and that's followed by mingling over gift bags and usually some small bites and/or coffee.
    2. Sparrow - Can you share a few memorable moments or highlights from past events that have particularly stood out? Sharon - One of the moms who came to my Sage + Sound event - shout-out to Allyson Stone founder of Stoneshine Ventures - who I had never met before brought me sunflowers to thank me for hosting the event! Another mother, who has a three month old, told me that these events are one of the few things that motivate her to get out of the house. Also I love seeing the toddlers go through their mom's gift bag. We had a heart pendant necklace from Bauble Bar that the little girls loved and all of the snacks in the gift bags are always popular (plus useful during the workout events to keep the kiddos distracted).
    3. Sparrow - What are the key goals for your upcoming events, and how do you plan to achieve them? Sharon- I want people to leave these events happy that they came because they had fun, their kids had fun and they met other people they are excited to get to know. I plan to do this by partnering with like-minded brands and spaces. You can't go wrong when you're working with people like Little Maestros, Sage + Sound, Yoto, EZPZ, Petite Maison Kids, Wandering Bear Coffee etc.
    4. Sparrow - How do you select the charities that benefit from your events, and what criteria do you use? Sharon - There are so many causes that need our help. I only work with charities I have a direct connection with, however, so I know that the money is truly in the hands of people who are doing incredible work to help our community and beyond.

Sparrow - What kind of feedback have you received from attendees and participating brands about the events? Sharon - It has been so wonderful to see attendees filming gift bag unboxing videos and post videos on social of their kids having fun. Honestly, even when I just see parents taking a ton of videos during the events I get excited because I take it to mean they see their children having fun. Of course I also love talking to all the moms and seeing other moms connect. I did 14 rounds of IVF and I have found that to be something I've bonded over with many of the moms. Also it's awesome when moms bring their husbands and grandparents! We had a few at Little Maestros and it was so cute. Lastly, I won't forget one of the food brands I partnered with wrote to me after that they were "honored" to have had the opportunity to partake, which really blew my mind because I feel honored by any single person, charity and brand that works with me to bring all of this to life.

Sparrow - Are there any specific partnerships or collaborations you are excited about for future events? Sharon - Yes!! So much. Follow along on Instagram or via our Whats App to find out. There are so many great events coming all of which include gift bags with items from some of the best brands I've discovered in my years writing about parenting including Slumberkins and EZPZ.

Sparrow - How can people support or get involved with The Mom Club beyond attending events? Sharon - Follow along on Instagram or via our Whatsapp Group . There are so many parents looking to connect whether it's asking a question about a weird rash, getting insight into how the heck to get your kid into a great school or finding people to have playdates with. And, of course, any dollar is appreciated by the charities I align with.
