Doctor Shortage Part 1: SC patient says he’s been waiting a year for a surgery
GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A major doctor shortage in the Carolinas is impacting patient health. Many are waiting several months or a year to get an appointment. According to data from the Association of American Medical Colleges, the doctor shortage is about twice as bad in the Carolinas and Georiga compared to some northern states. The Carolinas has around 200 active physicians per 100,000 residents. Massachusetts, Maryland, and New York have about 400 active physicians per 100,000 residents. Patients say this is taking a serious toll on their health.
Blount Memorial Hospital could become part of South Carolina health system in $364M deal
Blount Memorial Hospital may soon become part of South Carolina’s largest health care organization, Prisma Health. South Carolina port authority notes volume growth in FY24
The South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) finished fiscal-year 2024 with a 7% bump in container volume moving through the Port of Charleston in June. Coroner identifies fisherman who died in Wateree River after going under
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have recovered the body of a fisherman who went under in the Wateree River on Thursday afternoon.
