Schedule Release: 2024-25 Concordia Women's Basketball
SEWARD, Neb. – The annual Cattle Classic will tip off in November reaching a quarter century in its existence and is set to open the 2024-25 season for Concordia Women’s Basketball. The program released the 28 game regular season rundown on Wednesday (June 26). Out of conference play features two 2024 NAIA national qualifiers: Dakota State University (S.D.) and Southern Oregon University. The ’24-25 campaign will mark year 19 of Head Coach Drew Olson’s tenure. As of the initial schedule release, the junior varsity schedule was still being finalized.
Marissa Hurst to Serve as River Valley District 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent
Marissa Hurst is the new 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent in the River Valley District. She started on May 26. The River Valley District, which serves the communities of Republic, Clay, Cloud, and Washington Counties, will have Hurst’s primary office located in Concordia. She joins 4-H Agent Macy Hynek to lead our 4-H Programming.

AARP Kansas Awards Community Challenge Grant to City of Clyde
AARP has announced the City of Clyde is the recipient of a 2024 Community Challenge grant. The City of Clyde is receiving a $15,000 Flagship grant to create a new greenspace in the heart of Clyde’s downtown. The gathering place will include seating, an accessible stage and the town’s only public restrooms. Other improvements will include new signage and lighting.
Summer Youth Camps Scheduled for July
CHS Volleyball Coach Kayla Garst and CHS Football Coach Brad Wildeman recently announced youth camps they will be hosting in July. Volleyball will host a Youth Panther Volleyball camp on July 15 for students entering 3-6 grades in August. The camp will be held on July 15 at Concordia Elementary School, The session for 3-4 grade will be held from Noon – 2 p.m; grades 5-6 will be held from 2:30 – 4:30. Cost to attend is $20.

CCPD arrested Craig Allen Robinson, 51, on June 7 for domestic battery. He bonded on a $500 cash or surety bond. James Roger Robinson II, 36, was processed at Clay County Jail on a Clay Center Municipal Court order for three counts of violation of a protective order. He was processed on June 15 and released the same day.

A fatal accident occurred west of Miltonvale on Sunday, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist from Manhattan. According to the crash log released by the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident took place at 9:55 p.m. when a 47-year-old individual was driving a 2006 Ford Econoline Van in the westbound direction on US-24 Highway. Simultaneously, a 63-year-old man from Manhattan was traveling east on the same highway riding a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle.
