How to get to and from the Minnesota State Fair
ST PAUL, Minn. — There's only one month left until the start of the Minnesota State Fair and we can already smell the Pronto Pups cooking. Instead of driving hours, getting lost, paying for an Airbnb, and being far away from home, I drove just twenty minutes, parked in one of my standard concert-going ramps, walked just a few blocks, and found myself at a full-blown festival- Minnesota Yacht Club.
As Rondo’s Central Village Park celebrates 50 years, double dutch helps reactivate St. Paul parkland
An obscure park anniversary took place in St. Paul last weekend when Mizz Mercedez and her crew set up shop in Central Village Park. Bringing out speakers and 12-foot-long ropes, they began what’s become an almost sacred rite for the sidewalks of St. Paul’s Black community: double dutch. After a year of building community, the jump rope craft is seeing a moment on the streets.
