Marion County's second biggest property sale so far in 2024 has been finalized: a $26 million deal for Classic Mile Park off State Road 40 West between Ocala and Dunnellon.

Golden Ocala Equestrian Land LLC is the purchaser, according to a deed on file with the court clerk. The transaction includes two contiguous parcels totaling 703 acres.

A call to Golden Ocala Equestrian Land's representative was not immediately returned. It is not clear what the company intends to do with Classic Mile.

The sellers are Domenic and Marianna Martelli. They listed the farm in 2022, telling the Star Banner at the time that after 37 years of ownership, they were ready to sell.

According to that story, Classic Mile Park has more than 20 barns and more than 690 stalls, a 3/8-mile dirt track and a 1-mile track, and multiple homes. It is a well known horse training center.

The biggest property sale so far in 2024 has been the $31.4 million sale of the Berkshire Oaks Plaza shopping center in southwest Ocala in February. A northwest Marion horse farm sold for $13.1 million in March.

Last year, Golden Ocala Equestrian Land LLC paid $3.53 million for an 86-acre parcel on Lake Weir that is adjacent to the Carney Island Recreation & Conservation area and near the relocated Bradford-Ma Barker House.

Golden Ocala Equestrian Land is based in Wilmington, Ohio, and controlled by the Roberts family, best known for Golden Ocala, the World Equestrian Center and R&L Carriers. Most of its land holdings are in northwest Marion County.
