World War II Veteran Dominick Critelli Honored

City’s residential rehab program is launched

Two in Police Custody After Being Nabbed with 14 Cases of Illegal Fireworks, Cops Say
The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of two Franklin Square men for an incident that occurred on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 6:18 PM in Franklin Square. According to detectives, Nicholas Moschonas, 33, of 516 3rd Street was observed setting off fireworks on the corner of 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a 2019 Dodge RAM belonging to Peter Mari, 33, of 905 Hancock Avenue, was discovered with numerous boxes of fireworks inside the vehicle.

Six graduating seniors from Seaford High School were presented with the Patriot Award during a dinner ceremony on June 24, in remembrance of five alumni who died on 9/11. This year’s recipients — Amanda Beadle, Jillian Gross, Daniella Stek, Michael Wittenstein, Angelina Fernandez and Alexandra Podesta — were announced at the graduation ceremony on June 15. They were each presented with the award and a $2,000 stipend at the June 24 dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Lily Flanagan’s Restaurant Group, which dates back to 1987, opened the Riverhead Brew House (RBH) in May on East Main Street in a space formerly occupied by Peconic County Brewing. Riverhead has now regained bragging rights as the craft brewery capital of Long Island, having six breweries compared to five each in Bay Shore and Lindenhurst.
