MILLTOWN, NJ - Repeat Pete didn't become Three-peat Pete in the 2024 pizza eating contest sponsored by Milltown's popular Maria's Pizza on Thursday. Tyrus Lazar defeated the two-time Milltown Fourth of July Pizza Eating Contest winner Pete Lewandowski. Lewandowski won the inaugural contest in 2022 and repeated last summer, earning him the nickname Repeat Pete from Maria's Pizza owners, Rosamaria and Camillo Bonesse. Lazar downed seven full slices in five minutes to win the 2024 title. The teen recently graduated from Milltown's Joyce Kilmer Middle School and will be starting Spotswood High School in September. Lazar and his family will get to enjoy a free Maria's Pizza for a year, following his victory.
