Ocean Springs encourages Mississippi artists to enter the Blue Moon Art Contest

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. ( WKRG ) — Mississippi artists could win a cash prize and be selected as a featured artist at an upcoming art contest.

The contest is the Blue Moon Art Contest.

According to a press release, the contest is open to Mississippi artists 21 years of age or older who submit a painted art piece on a museum-quality canvas size 24″ (height) by 36″ (width).

The submission of art is encouraged to be fun and contemporary. It should contain a design that “inspires the crafty essence of the blue moon” and the “vibe of how the brand makes people feel.”

To apply for this year’s art contest you can visit the Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival website and click the “Blue Moon” logo on the home page.

Submissions should be turned in at the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street offices which are located at 1000 Washington Avenue and are due by October 4 before 3 p.m.

The submitted art will be judged by a committee that will see if the contestant followed the regulations on canvas, imagery, and the contemporary yet abstract design.

The winner of the contest will receive a $2000 cash prize and be the Blue Moon’s featured work in the following year’s Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival.
