Oram Holdings to Bring Locals Together at The Surf Club

After recently purchasing The Surf Club , formerly Hello Betty, Oram Holdings is planning to renovate the space at 211 Mission Avenue to bring locals together.

This acquisition is a full-circle moment for Oram Holdings, bringing the Mansour family back to the neighborhood they grew up in. The family has operated many businesses throughout Oceanside for over 40 years, including the Haunted Head Saloon on North Tremont Street. The family recently acquired the restaurant last month and is now renovating the space to make it more inviting to locals, according to Oram Holdings founder Kevin Mansour .

The changes will happen gradually, according to Mansour, who tells What Now San Diego that the new ownership group will start by making the space more of a local staple by hosting live music three or four times a week, making prices more affordable, and collaborating with local businesses and restaurants. Since the Mansour family also recently acquired the SpringHill Suites Oceanside Beach, they have more control over how they want to shape The Surf Club. Mansour says he wants to see how Oceanside reacts to these minor changes before embarking on a more extensive renovation plan sometime next year. For now, he says he wants to make the establishment more welcoming to the community.

Located in downtown Oceanside, The Surf Club is a two-story restaurant serving quintessential beach eats, including tacos, salads, bowls, and more, along with live music on the rooftop and ground floor. The Surf Club plans to host events and chef pop-ups throughout the summer until further plans are developed next year. An example is their collaboration with Always Hungry Grocery & Goods for an extended pop-up experience offering craft beach snacks and goods. This isn’t the only project from Oram Holdings, who recently opened an all-natural wine shop called the “Board House Natural Wines” at the adjacent hotel. Oram Holdings also operates The Guild Hotel in downtown San Diego and the forthcoming Granger Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter.
