ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Officers from the Odessa Police Department, Midland Police Department, Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ector County Sheriff’s Office gathered for the 11 th annual ‘Bustin for Badges’ check presentation on Thursday.

All proceeds of the annual sports clay tournament benefit local law enforcement agencies. Since 2014, the tournament has raised more than $4 million for local heroes.

Each agency received a $140,000 check to spend on equipment that isn’t covered in their agency’s budget. OPD said it plans to use its funds on equipment like technology and officer safety.

“It is just amazing to see how much support the community gives local law enforcement, and it is nice to know we’re appreciated,” said OPD Corporal Steve LeSueur.
